Shopping for Clothes on Sale
Description:
Students are randomly paired with a partner in the Language Lab. Initially, students will discuss where they normally shop for clothes and in which departments they purchase specific items. Students are then given a handout and asked to find the various items on a site in the target language provided by the instructor. The instructor accessed the website prior to the activity to find items that are on sale to include on the handout. The handout can be saved as a PDF and digitally sent to all of the student's computers via the SANS software in the Language Lab. The handout can include items such as shoes, socks, coats, shirts, sweaters, teddy bear, etc. The students are asked to determine and write down the department, sales price, and the amount saved on each item from the original price as part of the activity and give the total cost for the entire purchase.
