Lab Activity

Job Search

Description:

Instructor sends students a link to a target language website for job postings. Students (individually) use search functions to explore jobs.

Follow-Up Activities: Students could also compare and contrast job searching in the target language culture vs. their own.

Modifications:

Lower proficiency levels might all read the same posting(s) and discuss what they have understood, with questions such as what are the job responsibilities? / who should apply? / how can you apply?, etc  and then practice reading and completing a sample job application (developed by the instructor). More advanced students can explore job listings individually, then be paired to exchange information about position that interested them, and discuss or justify their qualifications for the position. This could then be combined with a job interview activity, as below.
