Lab Activity

Travel Report

Description:

After being paired, students research ways to travel between two cities or towns where the target language is used. The modes of transportation might be by car, bus, train, or plane etc. Research is conducted with the headsets on, working in pairs, so that the instructor can listen and offer feedback. Once the research is complete, the paired students work in their target language to create a travel report on the different and best options for travel between the two cities. This can be developed into a travel podcast, which is then uploaded to the class blog site along with pictures and other research.

Modifications:

Pairs can be given different cities to research, so that this becomes a jigsaw information sharing activity. Pairs can be grouped (into groups of four) to exchange information after compiling their research. Pairs can also be split up and re-paired with new partners for this information exchange. Instructors can create forms where students must collect information from several peers, about their cities.
