Screencast a Trip
Description:
Students are asked to watch a screencast tour created by their instructor (or available on youtube). They then are asked to develop a narrated 2-4 minute tour of a place they enjoyed visiting, using Kaltura Media Gallery (in Collab). Students take 10 minutes to prepare their presentation and another 10 minutes to record and re-record. They then review a classmate’s presentation, and develop a response/comment to the the content of the presentation.
Follow-Up Activities: Students can listen to oa partner’s presentation, and write down a transcript or summary of the content. They can also give feedback on language use, based on a rubric provided by the instructor or developed in cooperation with the instructor.
Modifications:
This can be modified to narrate a screencast of just about anything! Narrate how to navigate a popular website, show photos of a vacation, narrate your commute to school each day, showing the map...possibilities are many!
Students can “perform” their presentation for a partner before recording it, in order to get feedback. This is done by pairing students and sharing their screens.
