A&S Learning Design & Technology is excited to introduce the Hands-on Tech Workshop Series! The Hands-on Tech series will consist of interactive workshops where learners will be able to gain firsthand experience with a variety of software applications and technology. Podcasting Made Easy: Wednesday, February 22nd 2pm-4pm New Cabell 299 (Language Lab)
Join us for an interactive hands-on workshop and discover the basic principles of creating an effective podcast. Create audio using various microphones and recording equipment, as well as edit audio with the free audio editing software Audacity. Learn how to create compelling podcasts, complete with voice-overs, sound effects, interviews and music. No previous knowledge or experience required. Note: This workshop will be held in a computer lab environment and will not require faculty to bring a laptop to participate.
Free Tech Tools: Friday, March 31st 1pm-3pm New Cabell 398
Do you want to make a short video, but don’t know what software to use? Want to learn a tool to edit photos or create quick graphics? Want to do a screen capture of your computer screen? Or do you just want to learn some free tools? This workshop will provide a brief overview of image editor, video editor and screen capture tools. All tools covered in this workshop are free and easy to learn. No previous knowledge of photo or video editing required. Note: Faculty are encouraged to bring their own laptops to follow along and interact with the programs during the tool demonstration. We will have a limited number of laptops available for use during this session, and will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Most of the applications covered during this session will be online based and will not require anything to be downloaded to your computer.

Learning Technology Incubator: UVa College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences
The Learning Technology Incubator (LTi) program is a joint initiative of the A&S Office of Learning Design & Technology and A&S New Learning Technology Committee. Since the inception of the program, we have funded 28 projects for a total of $310,000. Our goal is to promote innovative projects and encourage interdisciplinary collaboration that seeks to solve common instructional challenges. We invite proposals that focus on engagement and enhancement of student learning, including (but is not limited to) ideas around:
- Course (re)-design using student-centered pedagody
- Adaptation of courses for active learning spaces
- Novel applications of exisiting learning technologies
- Development of new technologies for teaching and learning
- Use of College maker spaces
- Use of ePortfolios
